The Croatian Veterans' Affairs Ministry reported on Thursday that the remains of three victims from the Second World War and the post-war period have been uncovered in the Gornja Dubrava neighborhood of Zagreb, as part of ongoing field research. The ministry noted that trial excavations are planned for another five locations in the Gornja Dubrava and Sesvete areas, where it is suspected that there are mass graves from the war and post-war period.

According to the Veteran’s Affairs Ministry the available information indicates that the deceased were the victims of crimes committed by Tito’s partisan forces and the communist Yugoslav regime in 1945 and 1946. The ministry added that in the last decade more than 630 locations throughout the country have been investigated, with exhumations conducted at more than 90 locations in 16 counties, and that the remains of a total of 2 205 victims' have been exhumed. So far 2 046 have received a dignified burial.

Meanwhile, in neighboring Bosnia and Herzegovina, a commemoration was held in the village of Trusina in Konjic Municipality, to mark the 33rd anniversary of the murder of fifteen Croatian civilians and seven captured members of the Croatian Defense Council. The war crime was committed by the so-called "Zulfikar" unit of the Bosnian Muslim Army, with five of its members convicted of the crime by the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. However, and the trial of the unit's commander, Zulfikar Ališpago, has been delayed for the past twelve years over a combination of procedural motions from the defense and claims of Ališpago's failing health.

In 1991 Trusina had a population of roughly 50% Croats, 49% Muslims, and 1% Yugoslav's. According to the 2013 census Trusina's population is now 97% percent Muslim with not a single Croat left in the village.
