The Voice of Croatia continues to follow the “Domovina” Summer School 2025. Organized by the Central State Office for Croats Abroad in partnership with the Association of Croatian-American Professionals - ACAP, and lasting from June 1st to June 13th, the program provides the descendants of Croatian emigrants with a view into the beauties and values of the Republic of Croatia with visits to a number of Croatian cities. However, the program is not just a journey for the students, but also a return to their roots, an opportunity for them to get to know their Homeland and their identity.

The school takes young students of Croatian heritage to Dubrovnik, Split, Sinj, Šibenik, Zadar, Gospić, Zagreb, Varaždin, Osijek and of course Vukovar, the symbol of Croatia’s historic fight for independence. The goal is to strengthen Croatian identity among young emigrants, connect Croatian communities around the world, encourage cultural and scientific cooperation, introduce participants to Croatian history, culture, traditions and natural beauty and to strengthen their awareness of their belonging to the Croatian nation.

One of the participants, Flora Lennihan, who provided the Voice of Croatia with pictures of their travels, said that although she comes to Dubrovnik every summer, she is grateful for this program because it provides her with the opportunity to see and get to know other parts of our beautiful country.

“It is a wonderful community of our fellow Croatians and we all have a common bond. The journey is interesting and we’re having a great time,” Flora noted.

The participants in this year's “Domovina” Summer School program are young descendants of Croatian emigrants from South America, Australia, the USA, Canada, South Africa, Europe and the United Kingdom. During their fourteen day experience they will visit many locations of cultural, religious and historical significance for the Croatian people around the world. They will also be introduced to the richness of Croatian gastronomy, music, culture, the Croatian language and the beauty of life in the homeland of their ancestors.

Through socializing and discovering their common homeland together, participants will connect with their Croatian roots, their ancestors and their people.
