Strong winds and heavy rain hit Zagreb and Hrvatsko Zagorje, while hail fell near Ptuj in Slovenia.
A powerful storm system moved from Slovenia into Croatia on Monday afternoon, bringing strong winds and heavy rain to parts of northern Croatia, including Hrvatsko Zagorje and Zagreb. No major damage has been reported.
More severe weather was recorded in neighboring Slovenia, particularly near Ptuj, where heavy rainfall was accompanied by hail measuring about the size of hazelnuts.
The Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service (DHMZ) has issued an orange weather warning for the Rijeka region due to high temperatures and the possibility of stronger showers and thunderstorms.
According to the DHMZ, thunderstorms and local showers are also possible in the Osijek, Zagreb and Knin regions. Heat warnings remain in effect for the Split and Dubrovnik regions.
Forecasters have also warned of stronger bora winds in the Velebit Channel and the Kvarner and Kvarnerić areas.
Winds inland will generally be weak to moderate, with northeasterly and northwesterly directions prevailing, although stronger gusts are possible during thunderstorms.
On the Adriatic, a moderate northeasterly wind is expected in the morning, turning northwesterly and southwesterly later in the day.
Daily high temperatures are forecast to range between 30 and 35 degrees Celsius.
