Remembering Marko Babić, the legendary knight of the Trpinje Road

Today, Vukovar and Croatia remember the knight of the Trpinje Road, the legendary commander Marko Babić. The anniversary of his death was marked by the laying of wreaths at the Vukovar Memorial Cemetery, and his comrades and family remembered Marko's war journey.

Marko Babić was remembered, among other things, as the Vukovar defender who destroyed the most enemy tanks on the Trpinje Road. Because of his courage, he became one of the most respected heroes of the Homeland War for his comrades.

“Marko destroyed 14 tanks on the Trpinje Road, the legend of the Trpinje Road, Blago Zadro's right hand, always on the field, always among the first, he did not wait for others to do the job, Marko was always there wherever needed and where it was most difficult. And I thank him for that,” said Tomislav Zadro, son of Major General Blago Zadro.

“How many articles, how many pictures, he has gone down in history. A drop of my blood, my brother, and in fifty, a hundred years, someone will remember, read, talk about him,” said Kata Lozančić, Marko Babić's sister.

“Even today, after so many years, Marko Babić sends us strong messages, messages of patriotism, messages of determination and messages of courage,” emphasized Minister of Croatian Veterans Tomo Medved.
