National Security Council and Defense Council Session on April 1

Prime Minister and HDZ Party President Andrej Plenković stated on Saturday that the date has been agreed and that the National Security Council and Defense Council session will be held on April 1, the agenda has been set, invitations will go out on Monday, and everything has been agreed at the level of the heads of offices.

“I expect that all members of the council will be present,” Andrej Plenković told reporters after the Electoral Assembly of the HDZ Women's Union “Katarina Zrinski.”


Everything, he said, has been agreed. When asked by reporters about this, Plenković replied briefly: "You will see in the press release on Monday".


On Wednesday, Croatian President Zoran Milanović announced in a press release that he had accepted the convening of sessions of the National Security Council and the Defense Council and the topics that would be discussed, and proposed holding them next week. "Following numerous media inquiries and public interest related to the convening of sessions of the National Security Council and the Defense Council, the Office of the President of the Republic informs the public that on Friday, March 20, President Zoran Milanović responded to a letter from the Prime Minister of the Republic, Andrej Plenković, dated March 17," the Office said in a statement.


In that letter, Plenković proposed to Milanović that the sessions of the National Security Council and the Defense Council be convened on the same day of the week, from the 23rd to the 27th. March, and the Government said that the aim of the Prime Minister's initiative is to discuss the consequences of the war events at the global and European level on the energy and economic situation in Croatia. Plenković also proposed a discussion on further aspects of the modernization of the Croatian Army and the strengthening of its defense capabilities, the Government said.


The Office of the President stated on Wednesday that President Milanović, in a letter sent to the Prime Minister, accepted the proposal and agreed with the need to convene and hold sessions and with the proposed topics that should be discussed by the National Security Council and the Defense Council, and that he proposed that the sessions be held during the next week.
