Croatian Martyrs' Day was marked with a Holy Mass in Udbina led by Krk Bishop Ivica Petanjak. The day pays tribute to martyrs, defenders, sufferers and victims who, in any way, anywhere and at any time throughout history, have suffered for their people, faith and homeland.

"Krbava, Bleiburg and Vukovar are three supporting points that directed Croatian history," said Bishop Ivica Petanjak during his homily. He added that we are still living two parallel histories and he believes that events this summer support this and that one touched a wasp's nest and consciences that have been wandering through this country for 80 years and haven't found peace.

“Those consciences were frightened that this could be a trigger, and it could occur to somebody to raise the issue of origin of assets, and all possible privileges from the past regime, which that insatiable minority still enjoys,” said Bishop Petanjak.

He added that those privileges are soaked in other people's blood.

“If this is not true, how will they justify the huge publicity that these days, for days, to the point of unconsciousness, was given to some transcend art, which the majority never heard existed? And this at the same time, when again, practically in secrecy, 814 victims of anti-fascists were buried, who were extracted from the Jazovka pit and waited 80 years to be buried like humans,” noted the Bishop.

We are not here to raise any revolt or revolution, but we have the right to know the truth, said Bishop Petanjak and called for prayers for all martyrs and those that suffered.
