Croatia is statistically the safest country in the European Union, boasting the lowest rates of reported crime, violence, and vandalism.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Davor Božinović quoted a recent report by Eurostat on his official X profile on Sunday.
"According to newly released Eurostat data for 2023, Croatia stands out as the safest country in the European Union. Only 1.2% of persons at risk of poverty reported crime, violence or vandalism in their neighbourhoods, which is the lowest percentage in the EU. For people not at risk of poverty, the percentage was only 1.5%, also the lowest in the EU," wrote the minister.
Božinović boasted that it was "yet another international study that highlights the high level of security and the effectiveness of the measures we are implementing in Croatia."
Poland and Lithuania were the second and third safest countries; while Greece, The Netherlands and Belgium were rated the least safe.
