The British daily newspaper The Telegraph published a report on Dubrovnik under the title "Dubrovnik has launched a war against mass tourism. We've checked whether it succeeded" in which it is emphasized that Dubrovnik is 'moving in the right direction', the Dubrovnik city administration reported.

The author of the report, British travel journalist Greg Dickinson, during a several-day stay in Dubrovnik spoke with Mayor Mate Franković, citizens and tourism workers, analyzing the changes that the City of Dubrovnik has implemented in the last nine years in order to reduce the negative effects of excessive tourism.

The Telegraph recalled that nine years ago Dubrovnik was a symbol of uncontrolled mass tourism, which they themselves wrote about at the time, and at the same time UNESCO warned of the possibility of losing its status as a world cultural heritage site. Today, the media outlet concludes that Dubrovnik is 'moving in the right direction' and presents it as a city that is actively seeking a balance between the development of tourism and preserving the quality of life of the local population.

“Dubrovnik has shown that a world-famous destination can simultaneously protect its cultural heritage and the quality of life of its citizens. Sustainability is the key to the future of our City,” said Mayor Mato Franković.

The article mentions the "Respect the City" project, a strategic model of sustainable destination management that the City of Dubrovnik has been implementing since 2017, as well as specific measures for a better quality of life for citizens and a better visitor experience: limiting the number of cruise ships, regulating traffic around the historic core, reducing pollution, controlling the use of public spaces, and introducing a reservation and visitor management system through the Dubrovnik Pass.
