A record tourist year in Rijeka

Record tourist traffic was achieved in Rijeka last year, as 21 percent more tourists visited the city, and there were 15 percent more overnight stays compared to the same period of the previous year, with most of them, 55 percent, being in private accommodation.

Last year, Rijeka was visited by 221,107 tourists, who spent 657,864 overnight stays.

Compared to 2022, there were 22 percent more foreign and 17 percent more domestic tourists. There were 16 percent more overnight stays by foreign tourists, mostly from Germany, Italy and Austria, and 12 percent more overnight stays by domestic tourists.

According to the type of accommodation facilities, private accommodation leads the way with 55 percent of overnight stays, followed by hotel accommodation with 27 percent.

The Rijeka Tourist Board says that the rich program in the remaining winter months and the beginning of the Rijeka Carnival guarantee a good start to the tourist year 2024.
