Painting of Jesus Christ with the Croatian tricolor wins over Rome

Croatian artist Petar Šibenik participated in the final exhibition of the international painting competition “Colors of My Country,” held from October 3 to 10 at the Amedeo Modigliani Foundation in Rome. His work was selected among 50 finalists chosen by an international expert jury.

A total of 60 artists participated in the competition, 50 of whom were selected by the expert jury, while ten entered the finals based on public votes. The jury, chaired by Italian art critic Prof. Vittorio Maria de Bonis, evaluated the works according to artistic quality, originality of interpretation, the power of the message, and the impression they leave on the viewer.

During the final exhibition, which brought together the public, collectors, art critics, embassy representatives, and the media, the jury selected the three best works. Their authors received cash prizes and an official art review by Prof. de Bonis. All finalists received a certificate and an exhibition catalog, and their works can be registered on the international platform Artprice subject to meeting the prescribed conditions.

Although he did not win a cash prize, Petar Šibenik emphasizes that participating in the exhibition brought him joy and a sense of fulfillment. It was especially meaningful to him that he could exhibit a painting of Christ with the Croatian tricolor in the heart of Rome.

"It is a great joy for me, in a world of secularization and godlessness, to bring the image of the only Savior of humankind, the living and risen Jesus Christ, back into the center of attention," author Šibenik told Hrvatski glas Berlin.

The exhibition was accompanied by various cultural events, concerts, and book presentations, and the artist also highlighted encounters with visitors who viewed his work.
