Croatia providing more support for Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Croatian Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds has launched a public call for project proposals under the 2026 Support Program for Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The program aims to strengthen the Croatian community in Bosnia and Herzegovina by encouraging local and regional development through cooperation with partners from the Republic of Croatia. According to the ministry, the focus is on improving institutional and organizational capacities, transferring knowledge and experience, and implementing investment and non-investment projects that enhance quality of life and access to public, social, cultural and religious facilities.

The initiative also seeks to preserve Croatian identity, culture and religious heritage, strengthen social cohesion, support population retention, mitigate negative demographic trends and improve local resilience through education, equipment and infrastructure projects with tangible benefits.

Eligible applicants include local and regional self-government units, as well as public institutions and public enterprises founded by those units or by the Republic of Croatia, in the following counties: Dubrovnik-Neretva, Split-Dalmatia, Šibenik-Knin, Zadar, Lika-Senj, Sisak-Moslavina, Karlovac, Brod-Posavina, Vukovar-Srijem, Bjelovar-Bilogora, Požega-Slavonia, Osijek-Baranja and Zagreb County.

Also eligible are local and regional self-government units, public institutions and public enterprises based in Bosnia and Herzegovina, along with non-profit legal entities registered in the program area in both Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The public call is open from January 13 to February 13, 2026, until noon. Applications, together with all required documentation, must be submitted within this period.
