On Monday, the Croatian Tennis Association's board of directors appointed Ivan Dodig as the coach of the Croatian Davis Cup team, replacing Velimir Zovko.
Ivan Dodig will lead the team for the first time in his new capacity as captain in the second round of qualifying against France in Osijek on September 12th and 13th.
The 40-year-old Dodig is still an active tennis player and one of the best doubles players in the world, having won three Grand Slams doubles titles.
Commenting on his dismissal for Croatian television Velimir Zovko said that he was shocked by the move, noting that there hadn’t been any conflict leading up to the decision.
For its part, he Croatian Tennis Association thanked Zovko for his engagement and wished him success in his future work.
