Plenković: reliable partners are the greatest resource

The Croatian Prime Minister is on a two-day visit to neighboring Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he is attending the 27th International Economic Fair in Mostar. One of the most important events in the region, the fair has gathered some 900 exhibitors from 27 countries.

In his address, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković noted that in 2025 bilateral trade between Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina reached a record high at almost four billion euros. Plenković stressed the importance of energy cooperation, especially through the Southern Gas Interconnection project: “The recent disruption in supply chains shows that our most valuable resource is to have reliable partners. Those who will chose cooperation and a continuity of supply in these times of crisis, but who also chose the opportunity to stay together, and here I'm referring to influencing the economy, economic growth, mitigating inflationary pressures, and that's why economic ties between Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina represent a pledge to that kind of cooperation.”

For her part the Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Borjana Krišto noted that Bosnia and Herzegovina was fertile ground for foreign investment: “In this way we are sending a message that Bosnia and Herzegovina is a country rich in natural resources, but also a country that offers a stable business environment and one that is worth investing into.”

Prime Minister Plenković also said that it would behoove Bosnia and Herzegovina to accelerate its bid for membership of the EU, given that one of its biggest impediments – Hungarian leader Viktor Orban – had been voted out of office in Hungary’s elections over the weekend.
