Defense Minister Anušić receives his Albanian counterpart

The Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense met with his Albanian counterpart in Zagreb on Wednesday. The focus of their talks was on strengthening trilateral cooperation between Croatia, Albania and Kosovo, the possibilities for further developing defense cooperation, and the current security situation in Southeast Europe, Ukraine and the Middle East.

Defense Minister Ivan Anušić received his Albanian counterpart Ermal Nufi in Zagreb today, with whom he discussed strengthening cooperation within the framework of military cooperation between Croatia, Albania and Kosovo.

"With regard to the specific projects we discussed, they primarily deal with unmanned aerial vehicles, drones, and other systems used in modern warfare," Minister Anušić told reporters after their meeting.

"Albania and Croatia share common ground when it comes to peace and Euro-Atlantic integration. Our friendship is the basis for stability and security in our region," adding Minister Nufi.

Minister Anušić then once again rejected the thesis that the declaration of defense cooperation between Croatia, Albania and Kosovo represented any kind of military alliance. He also commented on Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić's announcements that Serbia will continue to arm itself in response to what Vučić calls a threat and an anti-Serb alliance.

"I am not concerned with the deliberations or actions of Aleksandar Vučić. That's his country, he's president in that country and he has the legitimacy to do what he thinks is pertinent in Serbia. I don't see a problem here nor is there any reason for us to be concerned. We have our strategy, vision and projects, and we are bringing them to fruition. At the end of the day, as we've repeatedly stated, we're committed to stability in this part of Europe," Anušić said.
