European Commissioner for Enlargement received in Zagreb

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković on Tuesday met with European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, reaffirming Croatia's strong support for further European Union enlargement in Southeast Europe, particularly Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In a post on X following the meeting, Plenković said Croatia supports changes to Bosnia and Herzegovina's electoral law to ensure the equality of all three constituent peoples, while also backing the reforms needed to open EU accession negotiations.

"Bosnia and Herzegovina's European path is of particular importance to Croatia. We therefore support the further reforms needed to begin accession negotiations, and we advocate changes to the country's electoral legislation to ensure the equality of all three constituent peoples," Plenković wrote.

Bosnia and Herzegovina was granted EU candidate status in December 2022, but accession negotiations have yet to begin because the country has not fulfilled the conditions required to open membership talks.
