A three-hour meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy at Mar-a-Lago on Sunday reportedly made significant strides toward a potential peace agreement in Ukraine.

Ukraine has already agreed to step back from its NATO membership bid in exchange for security guarantees. However, the country is still expected to cede a significant portion of territory to Russia as part of any lasting peace deal.

Zelenskyy commented on the progress:

"We discussed all aspects of the peace framework. Great progress has been made: about 90% of the 20-point peace plan is agreed upon, and the security guarantees between the U.S. and Ukraine are fully agreed. Guarantees between the U.S., Europe, and Ukraine are almost agreed. The military dimension is 100% agreed. The Prosperity Plan is in its final stages, and we also discussed the sequence of next steps. We agreed that security guarantees are a key milestone in achieving lasting peace."

Trump, however, cautioned that some details remain unresolved:

"The word 'agreed' is too strong. I would say it's not agreed, but we’re getting closer. That’s certainly a big issue—one of the key ones. We’re closer than before. It’s still unresolved, but significantly closer. It’s a very tough issue, but I believe it will be resolved."

Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov reiterated Russia’s stance, warning Ukraine to negotiate or risk further losses.

"Russia is seriously considering ceasing hostilities. But Ukraine is losing territory and will continue to lose it. When President Trump spoke of Plan B, this is the reality—there are Plans A, B, and C. The situation on the ground tomorrow will be different than it is today."

The meeting marks a significant step in the ongoing international efforts to bring an end to the conflict, although key issues—including territorial concessions—remain unresolved.
