Ukraine’s allies — including Croatia — have condemned Russia’s latest attack, which targeted civilians and struck a key government building in Kyiv for the first time.
Russia launched its largest aerial assault since the war began, hitting the Cabinet building in central Kyiv. Three people were killed, including a baby, and 18 others were wounded.
In a post on X, the Croatian government said the attacks prove Moscow is not serious about peace:
“The destruction of civilian objects and attacks on the Ukrainian government building show once again that Russia does not want a ceasefire.
We stand strongly with Ukraine and continue to provide it with comprehensive assistance. We express our condolences to the families of the victims of last night's attack and our solidarity with President Zelensky and Prime Minister Sviridenko.”
Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko confirmed that the main government building was damaged and said firefighters were working to put out the flames.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that a fire broke out in the building immediately after the attack, which began with a drone barrage followed by missile strikes.
Explosions were also reported in western Ukraine, near the Polish border, prompting Poland to scramble fighter jets and place its radars on high alert.
