Healthcare system and the economy must work hand in hand, says minister

The Croatian Chamber of Economy holds roundtable titled “Healthcare and the Economy.”

Discussions focused on ways to improve the healthcare system, including increasing efficiency through digitalization and highlighting the critical role of domestic drug wholesalers in ensuring the supply of medicines.

Minister of Health Irena Hrstić emphasized that the healthcare system and the economy must work hand in hand, now and in the future, because neither can function effectively without the other. “It is the government’s responsibility to ensure that this symbiotic relationship continues in the right direction,” she said.

Maja Bogović from the Chamber of Economy stressed the importance of drug wholesalers in the Croatian economy, noting that “their contribution to ensuring the reliable supply of medicines is indispensable.”

Dijana Percač, representing the coalition of drug wholesalers at the Croatian Employers’ Association, added that the sector plans to identify solutions to improve the healthcare system and strengthen its long-term financial sustainability “through open dialogue and ongoing discussion.”
