The situation in Iran continues to escalate, with the regime cracking down on anti-government protesters.
U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to intervene on their behalf, and U.S. officials told Reuters that some American personnel are being withdrawn from bases in the Middle East.
Croatia’s Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs says it is closely monitoring developments and remains in daily contact with the Croatian embassy and international partners.
Travel advisory for Croatian citizens
In response to the worsening situation, the ministry has urged all Croatian citizens to leave Iran and advised those planning to travel to the country to cancel their plans.
Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman stressed that, while evacuation is under consideration, no official evacuation has been ordered.
“We are advising our citizens not to travel to Iran. However, we have not called for an evacuation yet, although it is under consideration,” Radman said. “Currently, there are 20 Croatian nationals in Iran, including seven athletes who are safe inside our embassy.”
