Following Monday night's meeting in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina, with Bosnian Croat leader Dragan Čović, Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik reiterated his proposal for the reorganization of Bosnia and Herzegovina into three autonomous entities: Bosnian Muslim, Croat and Serb.
Dodik, the former president of Republika Srpska, believes the move would be a permanent solution for the political strife plaguing Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"The reluctance of the Bosniaks to provide equality for the Croats within the federation speaks volumes about how challenging the political situation is right now. We believe that a permanent solution for Bosnia and Herzegovina would be to have three distinct entities. In other words, for the federation to be divided into a Muslim and a Croatian entity," said Dodik.
The proposal has been harshly criticized by Bosnian Muslim and Bosnian Serb politicians.
Dragan Čović, the president of the HDZ in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a strong proponent for the full constitutional equality for all three constituent peoples, says he supports peace and stability. He said his party continues to back the country's path towards EU accession and further European integration.
Čović reiterated that he is focused on ensuring the equal rights of Croats through the reform of the election law and Bosnia and Herzegovina's European path.
