The national airline Croatia Airlines (CA) will continue to operate the Zagreb-Barcelona route three times a week in the winter schedule from October 26, making the route year-round after a successful seasonal route, CA reported after presenting the route in Barcelona.
CA presented the year-round Zagreb-Barcelona route to partners and the media in the Catalan city with the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) and the Zagreb City Tourist Board, emphasizing that the previous seasonal flights on the route during the summer months have attracted great interest from passengers.
Therefore, the route will now continue in the winter schedule, and from October 26, 2025 to March 28, 2026, CA aircraft will directly connect Zagreb and Barcelona three times a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays). The flights will be operated with new Airbus A220 aircraft.
“CA introduced seasonal flights on this route in the 2024 summer schedule and continued during this year's summer tourist season,” reminded CA Marketing Manager Anamarija Jurinjak, adding that by extending the line to the entire year, they are further strengthening the connection between Croatia and Spain and improving the accessibility of Zagreb as a European destination.
“In this way, we are meeting the expectations of passengers, but also contributing to the development of tourism and business mobility. We believe that this line will become a bridge that will further connect two countries rich in culture, creativity and openness to the world. More and more Spaniards are discovering Croatia outside the summer months, while Croatian passengers experience Gaudí's city as an ideal combination of business, cultural and gastronomic experience. We are proud that we will be flying on the line with new aircraft,” said Jurinjak.
The Director of the Zagreb Tourist Board Martina Bienenfeld assessed the year-round air connection between Zagreb and Barcelona as extremely important for the further positioning of the Croatian capital on the European market.
“We are pleased that Zagreb is becoming even more accessible to Spanish visitors, especially during the off-peak season. This new, year-round connection will contribute to the further growth of tourist traffic, as well as the exchange of creative and economic initiatives between two cities that share a passion for culture, art and urban life,” said Bienenfeld.
CA offers 21 percent more seats on its routes this winter
CA will expand its flight network on other international routes this winter, increasing the number of weekly operations and available seats compared to the last winter season, thus continuing to strategically strengthen its position as the national airline and a key promoter of Croatian tourism.
In addition to Barcelona, direct international flights from Zagreb to Berlin and Stockholm are also being extended, and almost 10,000 flights are planned during the winter flight schedule, on which CA will offer around 1.18 million seats, which is 7.7 percent more flights and 21 percent more seats than in the same period last year.
During this year's winter flight schedule, CA aircraft will connect Zagreb with a total of 16 international destinations - Amsterdam, Barcelona, Vienna, Berlin, Brussels, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, London (Heathrow), Mostar, Munich, Paris, Rome (via Split/Dubrovnik), Sarajevo, Skopje, Stockholm and Zurich.
