The Epiphany is a holiday also known as the feast of the Holy Three Kings, a national holiday in Croatia. During the Christmas season, believers gather at mass to celebrate God's revelation to all people.

The wise men, Gaspar, Melchior and Baltazar, came from the east and represent people from throughout the world who seek God. Today believers still seek and celebrate him.

“I'm a Christian, Catholic, and a believer; it is life in faith, nothing more,” said one believer.

“It means a confirmation of Christmas, a confirmation that Christ is king, he is our salvation,” said another believer.

“We are very happy, very happy that we will celebrate in the cathedral again in front of our Stepinac,” said one woman going to mass at the Zagreb cathedral.

At mass on the Epiphany, which at the Zagreb Cathedral was led by Archbishop Dražen Kutleša, he recalled in his homily that the wise men recognized the light of a star and set off on a journey.

“It is similar for us, who in this time are confused by the darkness of wars, moral insecurities and spiritual fatigue. We are not left without light, God constantly appears, reveals himself in his words, sacraments, in his church, through people that we meet, he calls on us to move from spiritual laziness and comfort and to go to meet Christ,” said Archbishop Kutleša.

The Zagreb Archbishop spoke of wise people that follow the light, recognize the brilliance of modesty and are transformed by the truth.

“Today there are those who want to remove Christ from the public and conscience, from moral life because he is a bother, because he seeks transformation, because he tickles our conscience. These are the Herod’s of this world. There are those religious ones who know everything, they participate and comment, but they don't travel those few kilometers of self-sacrifice and transformation,” said the Zagreb Archbishop.

The Christmas season will end on Sunday on the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord.
