Storm causes major flooding in Makarska region

Extreme rain on Saturday afternoon caused flash flooding south of Makarska.

The town of Podgora was particularly hard-hit by the storm. The torrential downpour caused steams to swell and spill into the streets, flooding homes and businesses, and damaging infrastructure.

In just over an hour, Podgora received 140 liters of rain per square meter.

Around three thousand households were left without electricity. No injuries were reported.
