Shooting suspect turns himself in to police in Čakovec

The suspect in last weekend's late-night shooting in the parking lot of a nightclub in Čakovec, which left two men wounded, has turned himself in to police. 

Forty-two-year-old Danijel Trnić is suspected of two counts of attempted murder, along with other offences.

He was arrested after voluntarily arriving at the Čakovec Police Department following prior communication with investigators, who had been searching for him for several days.

"He arrived at the police station unarmed. We are now conducting an intensive criminal investigation, which includes evidence gathering, questioning the suspect, and carrying out certain searches," said Radovan Gačal, spokesperson for the Međimurje Police Department.

Gačal also said police suspect that drugs may have played a role in the incident and confirmed to reporters that other individuals are expected to be investigated in connection with the case.
