New homes handed over in Sisak-Moslavina County as post-earthquake reconstruction continues

More than five and a half years after two devastating earthquakes struck central Croatia, the multi-billion-euro reconstruction effort remains ongoing.

Today, several families in Sisak-Moslavina County received the keys to their newly completed replacement homes.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets Branko Bačić said the government was particularly pleased that the reconstruction effort involved not only restoring damaged buildings but also constructing new ones.

"Across 59 newly built apartment buildings in Sisak-Moslavina County, a total of 1,024 apartments will become available, helping to expand affordable housing opportunities for young families," Bačić said.

"The construction of these apartment buildings is a major step forward in the revitalization of Sisak-Moslavina County," Prime Minister Andrej Plenković said at today's ceremony in Sisak.

"I would like to thank everyone involved in this effort, and I wish all those receiving apartments every success in their new homes. The government remains firmly committed to completing the post-earthquake reconstruction, in which we have invested €5 billion so far," he added.
