The Jewish Community of Zagreb has parted ways with the Anti-Fascist League of the Republic of Croatia following a recent statement from the president of the Anti-fascist League regarding the Israeli attack on the Gaza strip.

The comments by the president of the Anti-Fascist League, Zoran Pusić, about the conflict between Hamas and Israel, which were covered in the media warned about the risk of becoming "the evil we condemn." In the text, Pusić points out that the indiscriminate Israeli bombing of Gaza, in which civilians die, ultimately turns into a war crime.

For its part the Jewish Community says that it was not consulted about the content of his comments. As a result the Jewish Community of Zagreb is no longer a member of the Anti-Fascist League of the Republic of Croatia. The decision was made by the Council of the Jewish Community of Zagreb and confirmed in a brief press release issued by the president of the Jewish Community of Zagreb Ognjen Kraus.

On Wednesday a rally of solidarity with Palestine was held in Zagreb and Rijeka. Organizers said that the protests were part of the global response to the situation in which Gaza is being mercilessly bombed and in which a massive number of innocent Palestinians are being killed.
