Of the 800 young people who have undergone basic military training, as many as 260 have already expressed interest in remaining in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia. The Ministry of Defense sees this as a great success of the project and an important signal for the future recruitment of the Croatian Army.
Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Ivan Anušić said that he is satisfied with how the first generation of conscripts have fared since the return of compulsory military service.
“Two months have passed very quickly and of all those who have undergone basic military training, out of 800, 260 have expressed interest in remaining in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia,” said Anušić.

“This is a very large number and a great hope for the recruitment of the Armed Forces and the success of the entire basic military training project,” said the Minister of Defense.
He also announced the continuation of the project in just ten days. The new generation of conscripts will enter the barracks on May 18, and the plan is to increase the number of participants of future generations.
