Croatian Air Force pilots with Mi-171Sh and Black Hawk UH-60M helicopters successfully carried out an emergency medical air transport of a young person on the Dubrovnik - Divulje - Zagreb route in the morning hours today, announced the Ministry of Defense.
Two flight crews on duty participated in the operation: members of the 395th Transport Helicopter Squadron of the 93rd Wing of the Croatian Air Force with a Mi-171Sh helicopter and members of the 194th Multipurpose Helicopter Squadron with a Black Hawk UH-60M helicopter, they added.
Due to the speed of the transport, two Croatian Air Force helicopters participated in this operation.
The crew of the 395th Transport Helicopter Squadron of the 93rd Wing of the Croatian Air Force took off with a Mi-171Sh helicopter in Divulje towards the Medarevo helipad of the Dubrovnik General Hospital, where they took over the patient accompanied by a medical team. The flight then continued to the "Knez Trpimir" barracks in Divulje, where the crew landed with the patient and the medical team.
The patient and the medical team in Divulje were taken over by another flight crew on duty from the 194th Multi-Purpose Helicopter Squadron. The crew transported the patient and the medical team to Zagreb in a Black Hawk helicopter, the Ministry added.
Helicopter captain, Major Krešimir Matan from the 395th Transport Helicopter Squadron said “this was a unique operation in which we participated with colleagues from the 194th Multi-Purpose Helicopter Squadron, and such operations require a quick and timely response. I and the entire team are glad that we were able to help when it was most needed.”
This operation is an example of excellent coordination of members of the Croatian Air Force and confirmation of their capabilities and readiness for a quick response in carrying out tasks, said the Ministry of Defense.
