Croatia reported 333 new coronavirus infections and three deaths from COVID-19 on Thursday, as new infections continue to rise.

The test positivity rate was slightly above 4 percent. Hospitals are treating 192 patients, 19 of whom are on ventilators. Despite an increase in new cases, Croatia's coast remains in the orange on the EU's COVID map. However, now Zagreb has gone from green to orange. The capital had the largest number of new cases in the country today, 92, followed by Split-Dalmatia County with 69 new cases.

Šibenik-Knin County has seen its cases double over the past two days. The number is still low, 38 cases, but local officials are urging residents to get vaccinated. They are considering expanding the COVID-19 certificate requirement to more events in an effort to encourage people to get their shots.

"The moment the coast goes from orange to red, the tourism season is over and that also means less revenue, which right now, is quite good," said County Prefect Marko Jelić.

The General Hospital in Zadar is reporting that nearly all of their COVID-19 patients are unvaccinated. The Deputy Chief Administrator at Zadar General Hospital, Edi Karuc, said a 48-year old woman has died from COVID-19. She had no underlying conditions but was unvaccinated, he said.

Health Minister Vili Beroš has tweeted another appeal to the public to get their shots and to abide by prevention measures.

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković also commented today on the EU's latest COVID map.

"I believe that working together we can ensure that all of our coastal counties remain orange. As far as Zagreb is concerned, it makes sense. People went on holiday and now they are back. Some got infected on holiday and that's why Zagreb has turned orange," the Prime Minister said.

He added that the best way to help was to get the vaccine. Around 45.5% of Croatia's adult population has been vaccinated.
