Can Croatia’s Baby Lasagna win the 68th Eurovision Song Contest? HRT’s website visitors say yes!
More than 80 percent of those who voted in the survey believe that Croatia entry can go all the way at the super-campy annual songfest that will take place on 7-11 May in Malmo, Sweden.
Marko Purišić, better known as Baby Lasagna, delighted Croatian and Eurovision fans around the world with his song "Rim Tim Tagi Dim".
Coming off of a resounding victory in Croatia’s national Eurovision competition, Dora, Baby Lasagna has rocketed to the top of the betting odds for the first time in Croatia’s history, overtaking Ukraine’s entry to take the top spot, according to the Eurovisionworld website.
Croatian audiences seem to agree. HRT’s own survey of more than one thousand respondents found that 80 percent believed Baby Lasagna could win versus 14% who said he could not and 5% who were undecided.
Croatia has never won the contest since it became an independent nation in 1991. However, the Croatian band Riva did win with the song Rock Me at the 1989 contest as Yugoslavia’s entry. The contest was hosted by Zagreb the following year.
