The Dubrovnik Summer Festival is an annually summer festival instituted in 1950. It is held every year between the 10th of July and the 25th of August, and features more than 70 open-air venues of Renaissance-Baroque Dubrovnik architecture and a rich program of classical music, theatre, opera and dance performance.
The 75th Dubrovnik Summer Festival came to a close on Sunday night with the traditional Opera Gala concert in front of the Assumption Cathedral. Also traditional on the last day is the handing out of the CroatianRadioTelevision “Orlando Awards” for the best musical and dramatic performance, as well as the Grand Prix for a special contribution to the festival program. The general director of Croatian Radio Television Robert Šveb: "The award for musical achievement went to the Papandopulo Quartet, excellent musicians with a great program. Actress Zrinka Cvitešić took the award for dramatic contribution for her excellent performance. And I am especially proud that the grand prix award went to the Croatian Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra, for its exceptional contribution to Croatian culture, music, and in general for bringing culture closer to Croatian citizens."
Here’s what Zrinka Cvitešić had to say after being awarded the “Orlando Award” for best dramatic performance: "After any big project or when a major role comes to an end, you feel empty, a little depressed, and you miss the people. But this time I left the city with such a feeling of peace and joy. I think we all know that we gave everything we had, and received the same in return. So, it's really nice for me now."
