In Switzerland, students of the Croatian Supplementary School in Dietikon, Opfikon, Chur, Rapperswil-Jona, and Mels started the new school year with the theme "This is Me."
While getting to know each other, we talked about who we are, what we love, and what makes us special, but also about an important part of our identity—our connection to Croatia, reports the Croatian Supplementary School.
“In order to show this connection in a creative way that is interesting to the students, we made membership ID cards for the Croatian Supplementary School. Each student personalized their ID card by filling it with their favorite things related to Croatia—their favorite Croatian word, their favorite place in Croatia, their favorite Croatian dish, and other small things that connect them to their homeland, ”wrote teacher Sanja Ostović.
“The students especially enjoyed making the ID cards, and through their answers, we discovered once again how many different words, places, flavors, memories, and feelings can fit into one small connection with Croatia. Because knowing oneself also means knowing what we carry with us and where we belong,” Ostović pointed out.
