Croatian alpine skier Zrinka Ljutić finished sixth on Saturday in the penultimate giant slalom of this World Cup season in Åre, Sweden, 2.32 seconds behind the winner, Austria’s Julia Scheib.
“It was one of my better races this season. I definitely showed good skiing — stable and consistent through the sections,” Ljutić said. “Unfortunately, I didn’t manage to cross the finish line first in the second run, but I still finished sixth, after fifth place in the first run. I think that’s a solid result, all things considered.”
Ljutić heads into the World Cup finals in Norway with 247 points, sitting eighth in the giant slalom standings, with a chance to move up one position.
“The most important thing is that I am skiing well and feeling confident. I have one more race to go, and I will give it my all,” she said. Ljutić is also looking forward to Sunday’s penultimate slalom of the season, where she will be joined by teammate Leona Popović.
