The Croatian Economy Minister has called on political leaders in neighboring Bosnia and Herzegovina to continue implementing reforms that will bring the country closer to membership of the European Union. The minister highlighting Croatia as an example of a country that has achieved significant benefits from EU membership.
Croatian Economy Minister Ante Šušnjar was in the City of Čapljina in neighboring Bosnia and Herzegovina on Thursday, where he participated in the “Efficient Future” conference on energy efficiency, ESG and new technologies organized by the “Prsten Association of Croats” in Bosnia and Herzegovina. While in Čapljina Minister Šušnjar called for continued efforts to implement reforms and meet the criteria for EU membership: “I call on all political actors in Bosnia and Herzegovina to continue the dialogue and focus on reforms that lead to membership in the European Union. Croatia's experience shows that the European Union brings the best development and economic opportunity.”
Šušnjar added that stability in access to markets, investments and knowledge will be key to the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He also expressed his satisfaction with the strong economic cooperation between Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, noting that Bosnia and Herzegovina is Croatia's fifth largest trading partner, while Croatia is first in terms of exports from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Additionally, he pointed out that investments from Croatia in Bosnia and Herzegovina had reached €1.65 billion, while investments from Bosnia and Herzegovina in Croatia had already reached €838 million.
Prior to the conference, Šušnjar met with the leader of the HDZ BiH and Croatian National Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dragan Čović, with whom he discussed future cooperation between the two countries and the construction of energy infrastructure in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
