As Russia and Ukraine exchange attacks, with Russian forces hitting the Ukrainian city of Sumy and Ukrainian forces attacks the Russian region of Kursk, diplomatic efforts to bring the war to an end seem to be stalling.

US President Donald Trump has called out all sides for failing to come to a peace in a war that some think the US played a key role in starting: "That's a war that should never have been allowed to start. Biden could have stopped it, Zelenskyy could have stopped it, and Putin should never have started it. Everyone is to blame.”

President Trump was also asked by a journalist if he had spoken with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy about the purchase of new batteries for Patriot: "I don't know. He always wants to buy missiles. When you start a war, you have to know that you can win it, right? You don't start a fight against someone who is twenty times your size, and then hope that someone will give you missiles."

Yesterday Russian Foreign Affairs Minister Sergey Lavrov noted that the United States and Europe have gone separate ways on the issue. He likened the path taken by the Europeans to a hay-wired frenzy, specifically singling out the leaders in France, Britain and the Baltic countries. Lavrov noted that unlike the Europeans, President Trump and his administration have been trying to get to the bottom of this issue and understand its root causes resulting from what Washington and Brussels did to bring the current regime to power by staging and sponsoring an anti-constitutional government coup in February 2014.
