From Chicago, St. Louis and Milwaukee to London, Kitchener, Norval and New York, journalist Damir Ljubičić and cameraman Dario Godič have been documenting the stories of Croatian Franciscan friars and parishioners for a documentary marking the 100th anniversary of the Croatian Franciscan Custody of the Holy Family for the United States and Canada.
The final stop on their journey is New York, where they are filming at the Parish of Sts. Cyril, Methodius and Raphael.
The film is a collaborative project between the Mir Medjugorje Information Centre, the Croatian Government’s Central State Office for Croats Outside the Republic of Croatia, the Custody and the Franciscan Province of Herzegovina.
The documentary brings together a wealth of stories about the lives of Croatians in North America and the role Franciscans have played in preserving the identity and traditions of the Croatian people far from their homeland.
Special thanks go to the pastors of the Custody’s parishes, led by Father Nikola Pašalić and Provincial Father Jozo Grbeš, as well as to the many members of the Croatian community and friends who have generously shared their stories.
The film is directed by Tatjana Rau. The editors are Vedran Vidović for the Mir Medjugorje Information Centre and Vladimir Brnardić for Croatian Radiotelevision (HRT).
