The best Croatian skier in history, Ivica Kostelić, together with his French partner Calliste Antoine on the Croatia Full of Life sailing boat, is in the middle of the Atlantic, in 15th place in the Transat Jacques Vabre sailing race.

Kostelić and Antoine are still about 3,000 nautical miles to their destination on the Caribbean island of Martinique, and eight days have passed since they left the port of Le Havre in Normandy.

Ivica sails in the most numerous 40 class with sailboats up to 12 meters in length, in which 45 boats started, while in a total of four classes from Le Havre, 79 boats set sail. Each class has its own route, and for those faster boats the route is even longer so that all classes come to Martinique at a similar time.

At one moment, Kostelić was fifth in the class standings, and now he is 160 miles behind leading Redman on the route between the Canary Islands and the Azores, while the 32-meter trimaran Edmond de Rothschild leads the overall standings.

The race has traditionally been sailed from France to South America since 1993, along the routes of coffee traders, and is sponsored by the French coffee processor of the same name.
