World heavyweight boxing champion Filip Hrgović, appearing as a guest on HTV's show "Nedjeljom u 2" (Sunday at Two), spoke openly about living in Croatia, his experiences traveling around the world, and the importance of personal work. He pointed out that despite all the problems, life in Croatia is of high quality and that citizens are often not sufficiently aware of what they have. He believes that too much is expected from the state, while too little is invested in one's own effort and excellence.

Travels Changed His View of Croatia

As a teenager, at 16, 17, and 18 years old, Filip Hrgović had the opportunity to travel to numerous countries around the world. He visited Venezuela, Mexico, Brazil, Kazakhstan, and China, where he encountered scenes of poverty that left a strong impression on him.

It was precisely these experiences, as he explained, that helped him look at life in his homeland differently and recognize advantages that are often taken for granted.

"I am not saying that Croatia is ideal, and surely there are better places than Croatia, but I think that in Croatia there is no such misery that I have seen in the world," Hrgović said.

He emphasized that he believes Croatia, despite its size and numerous challenges, provides good living conditions.

"My feeling and opinion is that life is good in Croatia. That life is of high quality, good," he pointed out, adding that he believes the people running the country are also doing a good job.

"People Complain Too Much and Expect Too Much From the State"

Speaking about Croatian society, Hrgović said that he does not follow politics nor does he want to engage in discussions about how the country should be governed. However, based on his own experiences, he believes that citizens often pay too much attention to problems and too little to the opportunities they have.

"I don't follow politics, I don't read newspapers. I don't get into what should be done and how it should be done," he explained.

He particularly emphasized the importance of personal responsibility, dedication to one's job, and a willingness to work.

"Life is good in Croatia, and in Croatia, people somehow complain a bit too much. And maybe they expect a bit too much from the state, instead of wanting to buckle down themselves and be top-tier at their job," Hrgović said.

His message is that, despite daily challenges and problems, one should know how to appreciate the quality of life in Croatia, but also take responsibility for one's own success.

Hrgović's view of his homeland, shaped by experiences from numerous travels, is a reminder that the standard of living is measured not only by what we lack but also by what we already have.
