Croatian tennis player Donna Vekić won the WTA tournament in Monterrey, Mexico, as she was better in the final than the first seed of the tournament and the fifth ranked player in the world, Caroline Garcia of France, with a score of 6:4, 3:6, 7:5.

Croatian tennis player Donna Vekić won the WTA tournament in Monterrey, Mexico, as she was better in the final than the first seed of the tournament and the fifth ranked player in the world, Caroline Garcia of France, with a score of 6:4, 3:6, 7:5.
Vekić thus won her fourth title on the WTA Tour, after Kuala Lumpur in 2014, Nottingham in 2017 and Courmayeur at the end of 2021. In total, she played 11 WTA finals in her career.
In the first set, a service break was decisive, Donna Vekić won the break in the third game at the beginning of the match. Vekić started better in the second set as well, winning a break in the first game, but in the middle of the set Caroline Garcia evened the score, and then won another break and won the set with 6:3.
A great battle took place in the decisive set, Vekić saved as many as eight break points and took the lead 6:5. In the 12th game, the Osijek native reached 0-40 and immediately took advantage of the first match point for a big celebration.

This was the 10th meeting between Vekić and Garcia and the sixth victory of the 26-year-old from Osijek.
