Croatia will face Germany in Halle on September 19 and 20, with a place at the Davis Cup Finals in Bologna at stake.
Captain Ivan Dodig has finalized Croatia’s squad, naming Dino Prižmić, Matej Dodig, Mili Poljičak, Mate Pavić, and Nikola Mektić.
Marin Čilić is missing through injury, while Matej Dodig and Poljičak have been added to the squad and could feature in the singles. Matej Dodig is due to play in the ATP Challenger semifinal in Genoa today, while Poljičak is also competing for the doubles title there.
The tie will be played on a hard court. Saturday’s opening day features two singles matches, starting at 2 p.m. On Sunday, play begins at noon with the doubles, followed by two more singles matches.
Germany, meanwhile, have named world-class Alexander Zverev in their lineup. The German star has reached the US Open final in New York, where he will face American Ben Shelton on Sunday.
Yannick Hanfmann is also in the squad, while US Open finalists Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz are set to form Germany’s doubles team.
For Croatia, the task is a tough one—but the reward is a place among the best at the Davis Cup Finals in Bologna.
