After rekindling its Nations League hopes with a 1:0 win over Denmark in Copenhagen on Friday night, Croatia’s national football team arrived in Paris on Saturday to practice for their final game of the June Nations League series against France.

Friday’s victory could give the team some of the confidence and spark they’ve been missing. The match proved Coach Zlatko Dalić has plenty of talent to draw from beyond the big stars on the team.

“Congratulations to the boys on a great game, especially the second half when we turned the game around. We showed high quality. This is what Croatia can do and needs to do. There is one more game left against the French. Thanks to the fans who cheered us on all the time,” Dalic told Nova TV after the game.

The coach commented on Marcelo Brozović’s performance.

“Brozovic is capable and it is not a problem for him to play. If he says he’s got the energy, and he does, he doesn’t need to be substituted. He is a great player for the Croatian national team. With Modrić, Kovačić and Brozović in the midfield, everything changed,” said Dalić.

The scorer of the winning goal, Mario Pašalić, also commented on the match.

“Everything was easier when Modrić and Kovačić entered the game in the second half,” said Pašalić.

Throughout the season, playing for Italian Serie A team Atalanta, Pašalić showed excellent offense capabilities. He displayed some of those same skills in the 69th minute, finding himself in the right place and skillfully landing Croatia's first victory in this season of the UEFA Nations League.

Croatia plays France on Monday at the Stade de France in Paris. Kick-off is at 8:45 PM.
