Zubčić claims third at World Cup slalom in France

Croatian skier Filip Zubčić finished in third place at Sunday's World Cup slalom race in Val d'Isere, France. 

French skier Clement Noel on Sunday won the race, while Swede Kristoffer Jakobsen came second.


Sunday's third place finish is the best result so-far in the slalom for the 28-year-old Croat on the World Cup circuit.


"I'm really happy with today's race. I finally got on the podium for the slalom. I knew I could achieve great results in the slalom and I had two great run today. It was a battle because the runs were quite difficult but I'm finally on the podium for the slalom and I'm really proud. A big hello to all our ski fans!," said an elated Zubčić in France.


Another Croatian skier, Matej Vidović, finished in 19th place in today's slalom.
