Former Croatian Sovereigntist and now independent MP Hrvoje Zekanović has been consulting with colleagues about forming a new club of deputies in parliament.
Zekanović, who broke away from his former party over Covid-19 vaccines, declined to reveal any names. He did however respond to comments from opposition MPs who speculated that he would support the HDZ-led majority in the Sabor. He insists he is still in the opposition.
"When the government was being formed I voted against it. I voted against the last budget and against the budget revision. Therefore, I am in the opposition. If I vote in favor of the budget bill now, then you can say I support the government. However, like many of my colleagues on the left and the right, I have supported government proposed legislation if the bills were good. I plan to continue doing that. If I think something is bad, I won't vote for it,” said Zekanović.
Zekanović had been a member of the Croatian Sovereigntists group until December last year when he was expelled for criticizing people who refuse to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
