Prime Minister Andrej Plenković began an official two-day visit to Dubai on Saturday where he visited the Croatian pavilion at the 2022 World Expo.

Joining the prime minister in the United Arab Emirates are Finance Minister Zdravko Marić, Foreign and European Affairs Minister Gordan Grlić Radman, and Tourism Minister Nikolina Brnjac.

The prime minister began his visit after being welcomed by his counterpart, Sheikh Muhammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the prime minister of the United Arab Emirates. The two leaders then visited the Croatian pavilion at the World Expo.

"The theme of our pavilion is Croatia: Inspiring Great Minds. Visitors are encouraged to to see out 'experience' room where they can view a short video. There is also the Rimac Nevera super car, the fastest accelerating vehicle in the world. Visitors will also recognize some of our famous footballers, like Luka Modrić. People are surprised to learn we are not only a country based on tourism, but of great minds, great innovators, and people who have contributed greatly to our world today," said Ana Šimunović.

Plenković said the visit to Dubai would go a long way to better establish economic cooperation between the two nations, especially in tourism, innovation and sustainable development. Trade between the UAE and Croatia reached 95 million US dollars in the year prior to the pandemic.

Also on the agenda for the Croatian prime minister is a meeting with United States Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo.
