The Office of Croatian President Zoran Milanović has issued a statement about the initiation of the dismissal procedure at the top of the Military Security and Intelligence Agency.

“After receiving the report of the Office of the National Security Council on the extraordinary direct professional supervision of the Military Security and Intelligence Agency dated September 19, 2022, and due to the scope and severity of the violations stated in the report, the President of the Republic Zoran Milanović is of the opinion that the Director of the Military Security and Intelligence Agency, as the person responsible for the functioning of the agency, can no longer perform that duty.

President Milanović therefore sent a letter to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, in which he initiated the procedure for the dismissal of Major General Ivica Kinder from the position of director of the Military Security and Intelligence Agency.

President Milanović initiated the procedure in accordance with Art. 66, paragraph 5 of the Law on the Security-Intelligence System of the Republic of Croatia, which states that "the procedure for dismissing the director of the security-intelligence agencies can be initiated by the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister and Croatian Parliament," states the press release.
