With the new school year just around the corner, and many citizens returning from their summer holidays to jobs in closed spaces, health authorities have still not decided what, if any changes will be made in existing coronavirus measures.

As it stands there is still now word from health authorities whether or not restrictive measures will be increased in the fall. The head of the National Civil Protection Directorate, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Davor Božinović: “It's all up to us. The measures are not aggressive and they are not especially harsh. They continue to be among the most liberal measures in the entire European Union. And I repeat, in so much as we adhere to the measures, which entails only a slight adjustment in our behavior, meaning avoiding large gatherings, we can continue in this vein. Obviously the fall brings with it a slew of new challenges, so we'll have to wait and see.”

Meanwhile, the State Inspectorate has announced a new inspection of service sector businesses, to see if epidemiological measures, especially working hours, are being observed. So far, those who have broken the work curfew, meaning allowed their patrons to stay longer than allowed, have only received warnings. However, the inspectorate warned today that repeat offenders will be fined in the future. The prescribed fines are high and some cafes could even face being shuttered.

The head of the National Civil Protection Directorate, Minister Božinović, said today that the peak tourism season has been a resounding success precisely because of Croatia's ability to maintain a positive epidemiological situation: “We feel that the measures we adopted ahead of the peak season have enabled us to have such a successful, and I would say record-breaking season.”
