CRO Race 2021 wraps up in Zagreb

The CRO Race 2021 - also known as the Tour of Croatia - finished on Sunday with the completion of the final stage.

British rider Stephen Williams, a member of the Bahrain Victorious team, was the overall winner of this year's edition of the CRO Race, which finished today in Zagreb after covering more than 1,000 kilometres over six stages.


"I am overjoyed I won the second place in the final stage and to secured the victory at CRO Race. It was a really hard day, with a lot of wind from all directions. I am happy to came away with the win and ended a great week with the team. My team is absolutely amazing and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to participate in this race," said Williams.


This marks the biggest career victory for Williams; having won only one stage race in France at the Ronde de l'Isard 2018.


Mick van Dijke was declared the best young rider, earning a white jersey. Dutchman Olav Kooij (Jumbo-Visma) won the blue jersey for the best sprinter, while the Briton Simon Yates (Team BikeExchange) won the green jersey for the best climber.


Vladimir Miholjević, Organizer of the CRO Race 2021, said he was very pleased with the success of the CRO Race 2021.


"It's impossible to organize and event like this without being emotionally involved and maintaining a positive attitude. But, most importantly, you must have a love for this sport and this country. I judge the success of this race by looking at the joy on the faces of the riders when they cross the finish line," said Miholjević.
