Believers in Croatia celebrated Palm Sunday today, a day that recalls an event in the New Testament of Jesus entering into Jerusalem and being greeted by the people waving palm branches.

For Christians, Palm Sunday is marked as a reminder of the welcoming of Jesus into our hearts and of our willingness to follow him.

Pope Francis led holy mass from the Vatican earlier today, underscoring this during his homily that no matter how dire a situation may be, it is never too late to begin again.

The Pope presided over St. Peter's Square, marking the first time since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic that the Holy Father was able to lead the celebration among the faithful outdoors, rather than from inside St. Peter's Basilica.

In Zagreb, Archbishop Josip Bozanić led holy mass from the nation's capital, saying Palm Sunday opened up Holy Week, the most sacred week in the Christian calendar.
