Croatian Davis Cup national team player Ivan Dodig and his Slovak tennis player Filip Polašek won their first joint Grand Slam title by defeating defending champions American Rajeev Ram and British Joe Salisbury in Sunday's Australian Open final by a score of 6: 3, 6: 4 after 88 minutes of great tennis.

For Dodig, this is his second Grand Slam trophy in men's doubles, he won his first in 2015 at Roland Garros with Brazilian Marcelo Melo. Furthermore, the 36-year-old from Medjugorje has three trophies from mixed doubles with Latisha Chan of Taiwan, with whom he won Roland Garros twice (in 2018 and 2019) and Wimbledon once (in 2019). Filip Polašek became only the second Slovak with a Grand Slam title, before him only Daniela Hantuchova managed to achieve the feat in mixed doubles.

Dodig and Polašek received the winning trophy from one of the last greats of Australian tennis, Patrick Rafter, and for the triumph in Melbourne Park, as a pair they earned 600,000 Australian dollars, which is about 3.75 million kuna.
