Croatian Radio Television (HRT), meaning both radio and television, has purchased the right to broadcast matches played at the European Football Championships from June 12th to July 12th next year.
This was confirmed by HRT Head Director Kazimir Bačić.
“We focused on the outcome or achieving the goal for the European Football Championships in 2020 to be present on HRT programs, on the radio and on television. We are making efforts to organize our program so that viewers are satisfied and I think that this sports topic falls under a great interest and great significance for our country because, as we know, football is the most important of the least important things in the world,” said Bačić.
“A condition by the other side was that if any kind of news leaks negotiations will be halted. Negotiations lasted nine months and not a single piece of news was leaked until today. The contract was signed 24 hours ago and until then we couldn't mention anything. Since the draw will be in Bucharest at 6pm on Saturday, we had to complete this before Saturday at noon. I am very happy and satisfied, I am naturally emotionally attached to this because of sports and I think that the place for the national football team is on national television. I believe that citizens will be satisfied with our effort and our decision,” said HRT Television Program Chief Editor Bruno Kovačević.
All 51 games will be broadcast on the HRT program with emphasis on games played by Croatia.
Kovačević noted that this will not affect public content that HRT, as the public broadcaster, must provide for its viewers.
